s: The navigation is incredibly simple to use, fast, affective, and highly organized within its space constraints.  Insted of having muliple pages or links or load times, this site has all the links readily available (within the site) and offers direct links to the client’s page or piece of work.  Each portfolio piece, information, client list, contacts, etc; has a line in a series of lines resembling cards in a stack. Your mouse flips through the card stack and shows a description of each from top to bottom. Once clicked the card flips up and shows muliple slides of the work or a short video of. I thought the structure and navigation was nice clean smooth and fast.

w: you need an uptodate fast webbrowser for this site.  I doubt many old systems or cell phones could handle it but im sure a standard version of flash would do it. I thought it was a little cluttered when deciefering from information cards and porfolio cards. It was confusing at first but once i figured it out it was a breeze.  I think if someone is trying to see the work of M studios than the navigation is perfect for fast gratification.

o: There could be more space inbetween the cards or a simpler way to distinguish what im about to open up, at times i didnt know if it was a piece of work or a description of past achievements. The site also has an html blog like site that has recent posts and more information in a ‘traditional’ fashion.

t: Some people are annoyed with playful animations and loadtimes and could shy away from this site.  I know ive found one too many company home pages that are more like walking through wonderland than actually figuring out what the site is about (cadberry choc for ex).  The intro and lead into the main site is nice and flows smoothly, i dont feel that there is much threatening this site from achieving its goals and media presentation. The addition of an html page seperate is nice and shows depth and understanding of the clientel that could be seeking their talents.

Goals

To provide a safe and friendly environment for people to post and comment on in-class/at work drawings. All ages are welcome so strict rules on content, language, and overall quality will be observed.

In The Margin will promote creativity when you are otherwise, less creative, and wasting brain power in class or at work. The site is not encouraging slacking off at work and in school but does influence others to at least scribble some free thought in the margins.

The navigation will be simple, fast, and without frills and gimmicks. Using a blog hosting site such as WordPress, the structure will be open for people to comment and update the content more so than the admins will.

Posting images can be done through a seperate form that enables the user to tag photos and categories with ease. Images can also be added to an already existing post or comment. Rules will be in place to keep the site age nuetral and relevant to the criteria set by admins.

S: The navigation is simple, clean, elegant, and flows beautifully on the page.  The load times are short, instant, and gratifying and also intriguing which makes the work stand out more.  I especially like the motion tab, each video starts almost instantly each time you click on a new one.  Really showcases the designers talent and work with the navigation resembling most of the motion type and animations he does.

W: I couldn’t really view the page in google chrome, it would load the entire column for viewing, then collapse and reopen the column. This was frustrating, annoying, and distracting. I eventually got it to work on firefox with no flaws whatsoever. It seems you need an up-to-date browser with all the right flash software installed. I’m sure it works on safari, iexpolorer and others but I couldn’t get it to work on chrome. This could also be a problem for mobile phone browsers like iphone.

O: The page is a little blank, blah, and flat. I think its simplicity is its greatest strength and weakness.  I like the way that each picture has 6-7 other pics in the set but it could be cool to see them branch off of the branch, like an organic mutation or explosion. All in all i think the site is 100% and is very clear and awesome.

T: Some threats would include browser compatibility and non English speaking visitors. There does not appear to be another set of languages to choose from.  The navigation is on point but it would be nice to see the mouse wheel in use or some sort of native scrolling option. To view another selected work you have to chose the last or next in the set which is nice but would be better if i could flip through them with ease.

Anyone who has or likes to doodle and draw when they are bored and in need of fresh art.  The site will be a open space for people to post non-sense doodles that are done in class, on napkins, in the margins of handouts, and on spiral notebooks.  Users can comment and encourage creativity on a whim or in place of boredom, an open space for creativity.

2. How does your target audience use social media?

The current generation of youth uses the internet and social networks sites as a part of their daily lives, news source, and entertainment.  A lot of time is wasted or spent online reading posts about peoples lives or twitters or whatever people do online. Even websites about sports, tv, or videogames feature a community aspect to encourage user participation and collaboration.

3. How should you come across?

A open free space to design doodle or inspire others.  Posts encourage others to comment and appreciate bored drawings that were done in class or in meetings, we all can relate and all have examples of work done.  The site should stay away from hardcore sketches that aim for photorealism and move more towards goofy cartoons, intricit designs, and overall free form thought and expression.

4. What do you want to achieve?

Inspire artists and non artists alike to share the embarrassing funny drawings that were done in class to pass time or to ignore it all together.  Shared common experience will enable people to open up, scan images, and participate together in paying less attention in class and more attention posting their doodles afterwards.  The goal is not to loose attention in class but to enable people who don’t normally draw to, well, doodle as much nonsense as possible.

5. Are you ready for a long engagement

Depends if I can get hosting cheap and reach more people than just facebook (ie google yahoo).  If the idea is a good one it would be cool to see the different styles and cartoons that everyday people create, not highly trained artists or nerds who draw dragons on every page.
